Natural Rhythms

Our beautiful planet earth, of which we are a part of, is guided by/ through natural rhythms.

The tidal movements, the natural seasons, the circadian and infradian rhythm.

Throughout humanities’ path on earth a connection and attunement to these natural rhythms has guided our wellbeing and our quality of life. As the pace of the world has picked up through industrialisation and globalisation our focus has been shifted to one detached/ independent of nature’s rhytms. Usage of electric light for example stops our body from its normal (when dark sets in) production of melatonin, which has distanced our connection to the circadian 24 hour rhythm.

The introduction of an expectation of a consistent performance at work, school, university or even in relationships has distanced us from our infradian rhythm and our natural ebbs and flows of hormones and social battery life.
Urbanisation and a high density of population in cities has detached us from natures tidal movements and natural seasons. In a concrete jungle, no one can see leaves falling or hear oceans howling.

To strengthen our community and our individual community members wellbeing, it is of utmost importance to strengthen our connection to the natural rhythms. Ancient practices like yoga or qi gong, breath, ayurveda, hiking, spending time in nature and sitting in circle, are all things which can support us.

The fast paces of our lives can have physical impacts. This makes it even more important to nourish your body. With the best nutrients available. But nourish thyself holistically. Make your wellbeing a ritual. Connect with your body, taste the food you eat, feel the consistency and temperature and the feedback your body will send you, if you listen. Create a ritual of being in the same space as your food as you settle down to nourish your self. Be present, enjoy being present moment. Connect your mind, to your body, to your soul. Through this practice you will hear the ancient natural rhythms that are connected to us. You will see natures presence, you will feel a need to connect and be aware… .
